Alberta Footy Women's League

The Alberta Footy Women's League was founded in 2008 to provide intra-club competition for the Calgary Kookaburras representative team. In its inaugural year, 13 matches were played and the Hillhurst Nighthawks won the premiership.

The league is always growing. In 2009, a third team from Edmonton in central Alberta will be added to the league and we hope to establish a reserves competition in Calgary. Matches are 11-a-side and comprise two 20-minute halves. Teams pay an registration fee to compete, match umpires are paid and participants play for the chance to be selected for their city, provincial and national teams.
